Mark Verheij leads Blue Socks to 11-1 victory

An impressive two-way performance from Mark Verheij led Blue Socks to a 11-1 win Friday over Blue Socks II, as Mark came up huge at the dish and on the rubber.

Mark racked up three RBIs on two hits for Blue Socks . He singled in the third inning and homered in the fourth inning.

Blue Socks II couldn’t get anything going so long as Mark was on the hill. Blue Socks II managed just two hits off of Verheij, who allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out one during his four innings of work.

Blue Socks blew out Blue Socks II thanks to 11 hits, including three extra base hits. Blue Socks scored five runs in the fourth on Blue Socks scored in the fourth on an RBI single by Marc Valkier, a two-run single by Harold Hullegien, and a two-run home run by Mark.

Jeffrey took the loss for Blue Socks II. He allowed 11 runs in four innings, walked two and struck out none.

The bottom of the second saw Blue Socks take an early lead, 1-0. A solo blast by Harold started the inning off.

The game’s last lead went to Blue Socks thanks to a third inning rally that saw five runs cross the plate on four singles.
